If you consider how much the old age pension is then you must realise that to enjoy your retirement then you need to plan and save for it and please do not put it off, I know you think its a long way off but it isnt believe me I know, so what will you do ?
Britain is definitely becoming more expensive to live in, but I also think that people are getting more savvy and switched on with how they manage their money and debt. With the financial meltdown that we had not so long ago people are becoming much more sensible. Just my thoughts!
CAN ANY ONE TELL ME THE LAST TIME A GOVERNMENT GAVE US ANYTHING OR REDUCED TAXES OF ANY KIND.
Absolutely. What with the country in so much debt, taxes on the rise and public spending cuts. Can we really expect things to get any better any time soon?!
I also imagine that for someone living in London the minimum income required to sustain an adequate standard of living would be a lot higher than the national average - probably nearer £18k-£20k.
My cousin for example had been living and working in London for a year, while staying with family. But once it was time to find her own accomodation she quickly realised that she couldn't afford to live in London any longer and had to move back to her parents.
Cost of accomodation (rent/mortgage/council tax/utility bills) as opposed to food, clothing and other social expenses seems to be the biggest drain on finances these days...?
